Man, 77, ID’d as person killed when NJ Transit train hit car stopped on tracks

The man killed by a train as he sat in his car on train tracks Oct. 28 in Morris County has been identified as a Passaic County resident.
Michael Carbone, 77, Pompton Plains, died after his vehicle was struck at about 9:30 a.m. by Montclair-Boonton Line train 1074, according to NJ Transit officials.
The crash occurred at the Ryerson Road crossing in Lincoln Park, officials said.
The crossing gates were working and in the down position when Carbone drove around the gates and positioned his vehicle in the path of the train, NJ Transit said.
There were no injuries to the 40 passengers and crew on board the train, officials said.
